BOOM TRUCKS AND OVERHEAD CRANES GE Security Industrial offers several switches currently used as position sensors on utility boom trucks. Most boom trucks utilize switches to indicate if booms are in the resting position, preventing drivers from driving the trucks while the booms are extended. The 166 and/or 151 switches are mounted on the body of the trucks while the actuators are mounted on the booms. When the booms are in the resting position, the switches are made and signals the driver that the booms are in a safe position. In addition, our 151 series interlocks are used to turn on indicator lights to signal the truck driver when the downriggers are in the up position. Should the booms be extended without the downriggers lowered in place, the trucks could tip over. When the downriggers are in the up position, the switches are made, locking the booms in the resting position.
