PACKAGING MACHINERY

GE Security Industrial is a major vendor of safety interlock switches to the packaging industry. Fillers, cartoners, case packers, and case erectors typically have a number of clear plastic access doors requiring safety interlock switches.

The 104, 115, 151, 191 series are often used on packaging equipment where the risk factor and severity of injury is minimal. The 115 switches are low cost and frequently chosen for machines with large numbers of doors. The 104 series are a much smaller package than the 115 series and are used when mounting is difficult or when the designer wants to hide the switches. The 151 series are used when the operating environment requires more rugged switches. The 191 interlock switches are used in wash down and food processing environments. The 215, 251 and 291 fail-safe switches are also gaining in popularity as regulatory agencies require machines to operate in a fail-safe mode. The 301, 302, 381 and 391 are used in applications where highly defeat resistant switches are necessary.

A safety system using GE Security Industrial's 300-BT Series safety interlock switches with an INT Series safety monitor relay is necessary on machines where the risk factor is greater and safety regulations more stringent. Another choice of safety interlock switch may be one of GE Security Industrial's positive-opening mechanical switches. They are available in key-operated, hinge-operated, slotted-lever and rope-pull models.
