GE Security Industrial safety interlocks and position sensors are used on balers, shredders and compactors throughout the waste equipment industry. This equipment is frequently seen outside large retail stores with access to the equipment from inside the stores.

The 151 series with armored cable, as well as the 115 series, are installed on guard doors and covers to protect from the moving parts of the equipment. The GE Security Industrial 151 switches prevent compactors from operating while the access doors to the chutes are open and they prevent balers from operating when the doors are out of position. The 151 switches are also used as position sensors for end-of-run applications, replacing commonly used limit switches.
